The Best of CrazyFitnessGuy 2022: Milestones, Lessons, and What Came Next
2022 was a year of progress, setbacks, experiments, and a lot of learning for CrazyFitnessGuy. This is a look back at the work behind the brand: podcasting, writing, speaking, personal growth, and the not-so-fun moments that taught me to keep going anyway.
CrazyFitnessGuy is an autistic-led healthy-living brand built for autistic and neurodivergent adults who are tired of one-size-fits-all advice. The goal has always been practical, realistic support—not “go hard or go home” nonsense that makes people feel worse when life gets complicated.

CrazyFitnessGuy Accomplishments in 2022
In 2022, CrazyFitnessGuy continued to grow its reach through articles, podcast episodes, media appearances, and community-building. The following were milestones I was proud to celebrate:
- CrazyFitnessGuy was recognized among the 101 Best Fitness Startup Companies in Pennsylvania.
- The brand was featured in 18 publications.
- The CrazyFitnessGuy podcast reached approximately 1,700 total downloads during the year.
- The podcast secured its first sponsor.
- CrazyFitnessGuy launched a radio presence through Blastradio.
These numbers are a snapshot from 2022, not current performance claims. What mattered most was seeing that consistent work could create opportunities, even when the progress felt slower than I wanted.

Jimmy Clare's 2022 Accomplishments
Personally, 2022 included several meaningful milestones. I co-authored a book, spoke at a local Rotary Club, and had my speaker profile accepted by All American Entertainment Speakers. I read 18 books, completed 24 business projects, and appeared on roughly 40 podcasts that year—bringing my total guest appearances at the time to 144.
One especially memorable moment was appearing on the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast and meeting Janet Varney, the voice of Korra, and Dante Basco, the voice of Prince Zuko. Those kinds of opportunities were reminders that showing up consistently can lead to experiences you could not have planned at the beginning.

2022 Was Not All Glamorous
A yearly recap is not useful if it only lists the shiny wins. Some parts of 2022 were difficult. Website traffic dropped, newsletter subscriber numbers declined, app downloads were affected while the site changed hosting providers, and the brand lost social-media followers. As a one-person business, those drops were frustrating and sometimes emotionally exhausting.
There was also a gap in new website articles from July through November. During that stretch, I was discouraged enough to wonder whether the work was worth continuing. I shifted more energy to podcasting, which helped me keep creating while I reset. If you want the fuller story, read my Discover Your Joy book review.
What I Learned From the Setbacks
- Metrics matter, but a short-term drop does not define the value of your work.
- It is okay to shift focus or take a break from one project without calling it failure.
- Building a business alone requires patience, support, and realistic expectations.
- Small wins still count, especially when you are rebuilding momentum.
I also fell two books short of my 20-book reading goal and did not reach every guest-appearance target I set. That does not erase what I did accomplish. Goals are useful direction markers, not proof that you are failing when real life changes the route.
A Historical Snapshot: 2023 Goals
When this article was originally published in early 2023, I shared goals for the year ahead. They included reading 20 books, building core strength, growing the podcast, expanding the audience, developing the store, gaining premium podcast subscribers, earning more media coverage, booking speaking events, and making more podcast guest appearances.
These are included as a record of where the brand was heading at the time. They are not presented as current goals. A useful annual recap should show the direction of the journey, even when the destination changes along the way.

Final Thoughts
2022 proved that progress can be messy. There were achievements worth celebrating and difficult stretches that made me question everything. Both belong in the story. CrazyFitnessGuy is still built around the same idea: make health, habits, and personal growth more accessible for people who do not fit the typical wellness-industry mold.
Thank you to everyone who read an article, listened to an episode, shared a post, booked a speaking engagement, or simply kept showing up. The work continues one realistic step at a time.
